KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND PRACTICES REGARDING MONKEYPOX AMONG FINAL YEAR DENTAL UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS, HOUSE SURGEONS AND DENTAL PRACTITIONERS IN ERNAKULAM DISTRICT, KERALA
Author Name: Mallika Balagopal, Shiney Sara Alexander,Jesnim, Subramaniam R, Priya Babu, Athira C P, Suneesh Kuruvilla, Jesline Merly JamesAbstract: Introduction: Monkey pox is a zootonic virus, belonging to the orthopox virus genus of the pox viridae family. Recently, the world is witnessing a sudden rise in the number of monkey pox cases. The clinical presentations of monkey pox are similar to that of small pox.Dental practitioners have a thorough knowledge of the anatomy of the face and oral cavity, and thereby can help in the early diagnosis of monkeypox. The objective of this study is to focus on the knowledge, attitude and practices of dentists in Ernakulam district, Kerala towards monkeypox. Methodology: A cross sectional questionnaire-based study was conducted among clinical dental students and dental practitioners in Ernakulam district. The questionnaire was divided into two parts-Part I and Part II. The first part consisted of personal details. The second part consisted of 13 close ended questions and one open ended question on knowledge, attitude, and practise on the distribution, clinical presentation, investigations and management of monkeypox. Results: Among a total of 266 dentists and final year dental students,262 gave their consent to participate. The response rate was98.49%. 81.6 % (n =217) of participants were aware of monkeypox as a disease and about 73%(n =171) of the participants stated that the disease is prevalent in African countries. Nearly 74% (n =197) of the respondents were aware that there are cases of monkey pox reported in India. 39.1 %(n=104) of the dentists have reported that dentists can help in the diagnosis of monkeypox. 30.11% ( n =53) of the participants, reported that they will refer a suspected case to the nearest hospital or general physicians and 11.36% (n =20) participants were not sure of the proper treatment. Conclusion: While most of the participants were aware of the basics of the disease, it also showed how there was a significant knowledge gap, when it came to the management of monkeypox. This study also showed there is a need for increased awareness of monkeypox.

A WAY OUT TO DEFICIENT ALVEOLAR BONE: OSSEODENSIFICATION AND DENSAH BURS
Author Name: Athira Kattachirakunnel Sasi, Revathy Chempakasseril Venugopalapillai, Dhanya VH, Vishnu Suresh, Ann George, Vinaya MuraliAbstract: Osseointegration is defined as the apparent direct attachment or connection of osseous tissue to an inert, alloplastic material without intervening fibrous connective tissue. Implant tissue interface is considered to be an extremely dynamic region of interaction. Osseointegration can only be achieved and maintained by a gentle surgical implant placement technique, an extended healing time and a correct stress distribution when in function. The osseodensification (OD) concept was introduced to advance the primary stability of implants positioned in low-density bone sites. Osseodensification (OD) creates an autograft layer of condensed bone at the periphery of the implant bed with the help of specially designed burs called densah burs.18 articles from 2011 to 2023 were reviewed and literature review on osseodensification procedure is discussed in this review article

COMMUNICATION APPROACHES FOR PUBLIC HEALTH DENTISTS IN TACKLING HEARING IMPAIRMENT AS A PUBLIC HEALTH PROBLEM IN INDIA: A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW
Author Name: Shabna G S,Vishnu Raj,Jesline Merly JamesAbstract: Hearing impairment is a significant public health problem affecting millions in India. People with hearing impairments often face barriers to accessing essential health services including dental care, due to communication challenges. The lack of effective communication between healthcare providers and hearing-impaired patients leads to misunderstandings, inadequate care, and a decreased quality of health services. These barriers are exacerbated by societal stigmas, insufficient training of healthcare professionals in alternative communication methods, and limited resources tailored to the needs of the hearing-impaired population. This review explores the various communication strategies public health dentists can adopt to bridge this communication gap and improve access to dental care for hearing-impaired individuals.

RARE CASE OF DENTIGEROUS CYST IN A 9 YEAR OLD IN ANTERIOR MAXILLA
Author Name: Haripriya Krishnakumar, Rajesh R, Nezy Susan Varghese, Nimmy Sabu, Darsana KrishnanAbstract: Dentigerous cysts are one of the most prevalent developmental odontogenic cysts that affect unerupted or impacted teeth. Most commonly observed between the ages of 20 and 30. Cases documented within 10 years of age during the mixed dentition period are limited in number, and mandibular area is the most typical site of occurrence, rarely anterior maxilla. Here we present an interesting case of dentigerous cyst in a pediatric patient involving anterior maxilla. The goal of managing dentigerous cyst should be to preserve the permanent teeth if possible and this case study demonstrates how the patient's condition was favorable owing to conservative management.
