PLATELET-RICH PLASMA - A WAY TO ACCELERATED ORTHODONTIC TOOTH MOVEMENT
Author Name: Anjali V A ,Hemant Nandan ,Joby Paulose ,Eldho T PaulAbstract: Platelet rich plasma when injected locally is found to have a significant effect in accelerating orthodontic tooth movement. It is has a potential role in the healing of soft tissues and hard tissue injuries as it is a great source of growth factors. It utilizes the principle of Regional Acceleratory Phenomenon (RAP) which helps in faster regeneration of tissues. There are various invasive and noninvasive methods that make use of RAP. PRP injection is one such simplest and safest noninvasive methods to accelerate orthodontic tooth movement of short term action with a predominant influence in the quality of bone being formed. The aim of this article is to describe the potential roles of PRP in accelerating orthodontic tooth movement.

TWIN BLOCK APPLIANCE FOR TREATMENT OF CLASS II MALOCCLUSION WITH EXTRACTION OF MANDIBULAR INCISORS -A CASE REPORT
Author Name: Meenu Merry C Paul, Sanu Tom Abraham, Reeba Mary IssacAbstract: There are certain clinical indications where functional appliances can be used successfully in class II malocclusion. This case report describes the treatment of a 12 year old boy with skeletal Class II malocclusion using twin block myofunctional appliance. To establish a positive overjet and normal overbite, a single lower incisor was extracted, nineteen months of myofunctional therapy resulted in a straight profile with edge-edge bite. Fixed orthodontic treatment following lower right central incisor extraction was undertaken to establish a positive overjet and a good anterior occlusion. 17months of fixed orthodontic treatment resulted in normal overjet and overbite.
